L'affare recently hosted the Te Whanganui-a-Tara Barista Open alongside NZ Specialty Coffee, shining a light on emerging talent and the passion that runs through Wellington's coffee community.
It was a day of sharp routines, real nerves, and a lot of good coffee. College Street was the right place for it.
The Winner
Congratulations to Charlotte Green from Swimsuit Coffee, who took out the top spot in a stacked field of competitors.
The competition was tight, the crowd was buzzing, and the support from the Wellington coffee community was on full display. From first-timers to seasoned pros, every competitor raised the standard. The future of coffee in Wellington is looking strong.
The Competition
The Barista Open is a competition run in collaboration with NZ Specialty Coffee, giving baristas across New Zealand the chance to compete, grow, and celebrate their craft.
For L'Affare, hosting it at College Street was a chance to do what we have always been about: bringing the Wellington coffee community together and backing the people in it.
Our Partners
A big thank you to everyone who competed, judged, volunteered, and cheered from the sidelines. And to the partners who helped make it happen.
The same sourcing values that matter in competition sit behind the L'Affare range. Traceability, quality at origin, and a genuine respect for what specialty coffee can be.
The Roasters' Cup series is the place to start if that side of coffee interests you. Small-batch, limited-release single origins with the kind of detail and character that rewards attention.
